SNOW ANGEL - VOLUNTEER DISCLAIMER

Before submitting the request form below, please take a moment to read the following disclaimer which outlines important information about the program and sets clear expectations for everyone involved. By submitting the form below, you acknowledge all of the following items.

Note that hereinafter, the Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan staff appears as "we", "we've", or "us" and that the volunteer completing this form appears as "you" or "your".

  1. Activity Tracking: In order to make sure the efforts of all Snow Angel volunteers are coordinated and maximize efficiency, you are asked to report the properties that have had snow removal operations completed on as soon as possible after complete. For this effort, after your volunteer application is accepted and you have been added to the volunteer list, you will be given access to a spreadsheet on Google Drive where you can add information and obtain information about opted-in and/or incomplete properties.
You can report cleared/completed properties the following ways (only one is required):
    1. Update the Google Drive spreadsheet with the property status.
    2. Email our volunteer coordinator (you'll be given an email address upon acceptance of your application) with the property number and status.
    3. Text our volunteer coordinator (you'll be given a phone number upon acceptance of your application) the property number and status.
    4. Complete the "Contact Us" form on the main page of the website with the property number and status.
  2. Privacy Policy: You are expected to respect community member privacy by not recording or otherwise capturing any multimedia content, including but not limited to audio, video, or photographs while on any privately owned property. You are permitted to capture any such multimedia on public property provided that it does not violate any reasonable privacy expectations of any individuals or their property as defined by applicable laws.
Also note that any information regarding individuals who have opted-into the Snow Angel program is considered confidential and is not to be shared with anyone outside of you and us; this includes but is not limited to any information found on the activity tracking spreadsheet.
  3. Personal Safety Policy: We expects all volunteers to perform all work safely and take all reasonable precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them. You agree to work safely and ensure every effort is made to keep all people and property safe when performing all volunteer work. You agree to use all tools and equipment only according to manufacturer provided instructions and to keep all such tools and equipment in good working order to prevent injury or an otherwise unsafe or dangerous condition. If you do not feel comfortable with and knowledgeable of the operation of any equipment, you are not authorized to use any such equipment. Volunteers are reminded to not work in any location where there is a safety risk which may include locations where: (1) domestic animals may be present, or (2) any other event or scenario where a clear hazard exists. Should any of these scenarios be observed, you may return to clear snow at a later time at your discretion after the hazard has been resolved or is no longer present.
  4. Community Safety Policy: You are expected to treat community members with the upmost respect regarding their safety, and wellbeing. You are also expected to report any suspicious or potentially criminal activity in the community at large to local law enforcement for follow-up. You understand that you are not authorized to enter any private property location that is not absolutely required to perform snow removal operations and that you will only enter properties that have been identified as opted-in for such snow removal operations under the Snow Angel program. Should you or anyone directly under your responsibility enter an otherwise restricted location, including but not limited to the interior of any building, this may constitute trespassing which may be punishable by applicable law as deemed appropriate by the property owner or responsible party thereto and that only you are solely responsible for any such actions in these cases.
  5. Compensation Policy: You understand that compensation is not expected nor required and you are not permitted, under any circumstances, to request, demand, or otherwise implicitly or explicitly state any need for compensation. Should the property owners or responsible party thereto wish to compensate you for your work, they may do so and you are permitted to accept that compensation if offered, but it is understood that such compensation is given as an in-kind gift only. You are not required to report any compensation received to any other volunteers or to us.
  6. Cancellation and Suspension Policy: Should you wish to formally withdraw (indefinitely) or temporarily suspend (for more than 21 days) your volunteer efforts as part of the Snow Angel program, you are asked to notify a member of the Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan staff of this choice as soon as possible via either email or text. If you would like to resume your volunteer efforts after a temporary suspension, please notify us of this as well. Also note that, should we receive any substantiated complaints about you or your volunteer efforts or find any reasonably just cause that would justify your disqualification from the Snow Angel program, we reserve the ability to suspend and revoke your volunteer status with us at any time. If such a decision is made, we will notify you immediately via email and/or text and immediately thereafter, you are not permitted to take part in the Snow Angel program in any way.
  7. Property Damage Liability Waiver: Should you be provided access to and authorization to use any snow removal equipment by the property owner or responsible parties thereto, you may use those items as you see necessary provided that your usage complies with the policy in section 3. You will not be held liable for any malfunction, damage, or destruction to any equipment you use provided that the malfunction, damage, or destruction was not the result of operation outside of manufacturer instructed usage or resulting from gross negligence or intentional malice on your part. You and we will not be held liable for any property damage resulting from snow moving or clearing operations provided that the damage was not the result of gross negligence or intentional malice your part. You also acknowledge that Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan is not bonded nor insured and that we accept no responsibility for any property damage under any circumstances for any involved party.

Michigan or any of its staff or fellow volunteers liable or otherwise accountable for any personal injuries you may sustain while performing any work wherein you are acting as a volunteer as part of the Snow Angel program provided that any such injuries are not the result of gross negligence of the homeowner or responsible party thereto or intentional malice or intent to injure.
