There are many community initiatives we host! Here's a list of things you can spread your kindness by helping us with!
As the school semester gets underway, Kindness Rocks hosts a food drive for the Lil' Mo's Food Pantry which helps families keep their young students fed. We use reusable felt bags to build up kits containing basic shelf stable food items for the students and their families.
Each bag includes:
The bags are put together by the Kindness Rocks staff at the end of November then delivered to the Webster Kindergartener Center and Lemmer Elementary School in early December. (The school staff takes care of disbursing them as needed after that.)
WANT TO CONTRIBUTE? SPONSOR A BAG!
Bags are $20 EACH (all donations should be in increments of $20) and you can donate individually, as a group, or even as a business by pooling staff money together!
This year each bag you or your group purchases gets you an entry into a drawing to win a new Pit Boss Gas Smoker!
Bag sponsorship donations can be made by:
Donation and prize drawing window ends on 11/30/2025. The prize drawing will be held in mid-December with the winner contacted by phone and posted on our Facebook page.

Shelter animals are all too often forgotten about by most members of the local community but Kindness Rocks hopes to change that! On Thanksgiving day, we're surprising the shelter puppies and kitties with a special Thanksgiving meal of their own! We'll be preparing animal friendly food plates for the animals of the local shelter (for the founding community, it'll be the Delta County Animal Shelter) and handing them out for all the shelter animals!
Each plate will include: turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, a bread biscuit, and a puppy pumpkin pie muffin for dessert!
WANT TO HELP?
If you'd like to help us show our shelter animals some special Thanksgiving love this year, we're collecting monetary donations to get the ingredients all collected! You can donate by:
2025 will be our first year trying out the Snow Angel project and we're very excited to see how it goes! The idea is to help those community members that might not be able to shovel snow from their sidewalks, decks, or porches by adding them to a pool of properties where snow management help is needed. The "why" doesn't matter - if you need help, we'll do our best to get that need voiced!
Volunteers with strong hands and a strong will to spread kindness can then review the list of properties needing help, clear the snow at that property, and let Kindness Rocks know you got it done so everyone's efforts are coordinated. As a reward, you'll get 100% of any tips or payments the property resident may decide to provide plus be given a gift card to a local business (as supply permits) by Kindness Rocks as a token of our appreciation of your kindness! You're not "required" to do anything - clear as many or as few of the properties on the list as you're reasonably able!
The project also aims to give kids and teens something to do outside if they're bored or stuck at home on a snow day. The Kindness Rocks staff is also more than happy to be solid character references for you through your work here!
I need help! How do I get it?
If you need to be added to the help list, fill out our request form and we'll add you to the list! Please note that you'll need to fill out this form every year so our list stays as up-to-date as possible. Once you're signed up, we'll get a yard sign put out on your property to help the snow angels find your place and report back when they get the snow moved!
I can help! How do I start?
If you're willing to help, THANK YOU! All we'll need you to do is fill out our snow angel form so you know the rules and policies (for everyone's safety) then we'll give you access to the list of properties needing help!

Each spring, after the snow finally leaves for good, Kindness Rocks members break out their work gloves, grab a trash bag, and pick up all the litter that was covered up by the snow! Whether it's along your own neighborhood street, in a park, on a beach, or down a back country ATV trail, if you've got a little time, you can spread kindness right to our Earth and collect some litter! Help us keep the places we go and paths we take clean and pretty!
If you do help clean things up as part of this initiative, show us your work by posting a photo on our Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan Facebook page and we'll send you a special gift as a token of our appreciation and your involvement!
While taking part in this initiative, please keep the following in mind:
2025 will be our first year trying out the Mow Angel project and we're very excited to see how it goes! The idea follows that of the Snow Angel project where local community members who might not be able to mow their lawns or keep up with basic landscaping can get the help they need to keep their lawns looking sharp! The "why" doesn't matter - if you need help, we'll do our best to get that need voiced!
Volunteers with a lawn mower and strong will to spread kindness can then review the list of properties needing help, take care of the lawn at that property, and let Kindness Rocks know you got it done so everyone's efforts are coordinated. As a reward, you'll get 100% of any tips or payments the property resident may decide to provide plus be given a gift card to a local business (as supply permits) by Kindness Rocks as a token of our appreciation of your kindness! You're not "required" to do anything - mow as much or as little as you're reasonably able!
The project also aims to keep kids outdoors and active during the summer months when school is out. The Kindness Rocks staff is also more than happy to be solid character references for you through your work here!
