Sometimes there are unfortunate accidents, tragedies, or bad situations where Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan rises to the occasion and lends a helping hand! Here's what we're doing right now to help people in these kinds of tough situations!
Tragedy again struck Escanaba on the afternoon of Friday, December 5, 2025 when the House of Ludington historic hotel and apartment complex suffered a tremendous and tragic loss from a fire on the building's third floor. Despite all possible efforts, the fire resulted in immense destruction and property damage throughout the complex ultimately resulting in the loss of the building.
The terrible fire has caused the hotel staff to be without their jobs and tenants in the complex to be without a home for the foreseeable future. Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan didn't hesitate to jump in to help how ever we could and are now joining the coalition to make sure the community members affected are afforded the best possible care we can provide.
From now until at least the end of January, Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan will be selling our "Gone but Never Forgotten" buttons to raise funds for the displaced staff and tenants. Buttons are $5 each and all proceeds go towards the employee and tenant relief fund that the House of Ludington executive management has created.
Buttons can be purchased any of the following ways:

On the afternoon of Thursday, October 23, 2025, the Race Ramps manufacturing facility in Escanaba tragically experienced a fire in their building that caused the business to close the Gladstone location permanently.
Kindness Rocks U.P. Michigan partnered with Race Ramps Management to raise money to help replace the income for the staff whose income and employment have been unexpectedly interrupted as a result of the tragedy.
As of 12/27/2025, we have concluded the fund raising campaign and can confirm that, through so many generous members of the local community and very special donors close to the company, we have raised just over $22,254.00 for employee relief!
The funds were distributed to the affected staff members at a special meeting held at the site of the former Race Ramps facility on January 14th. For more information, you can see the article on the WLUC TV6 news website here!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED! YOUR KINDNESS HELPS TRUMENDOUSLY!
